I am not sure if it is even practical, and i haven't tested it, but you may solve the issue about the top surface by maybe putting it in another Subview, described by Makc. I am not sure about it.

That happens because of what they call T junctions issue. Whenever a vertex hits an edge, a gap appears between the triangles.
You don't usually do this in your 3D modeling application. Due to correct BPS sorting, 3D engine subdivides your mesh based on some rules. If the engine subdivides, it will break a triangle into two, and leaves the neighbouring triangles as they are. You can solve this by subdividing the mesh in your own 3D modeling application. But it's so hard.

I couldn't be happier when i solved this issue on 100 models.

Please post here a sample model to show you what i mean.

Startus from adobe is one solution, but i would like to hear about new workarounds too.
There are discussions on pre-loading in the English forum, which can be access from here or over there.

This xml file, created by the "TanksLevelsCreationKit", defines how different .3ds files should be placed in the viewport to create the tankionline map.
If you want to have access to the tool as well as tanki models, you can write to help@tankionline.com or pm them.

The attachment contains the information about the map "Fort Knox".
The difference between the two kind is how the vertices are sorted in the models.
The Geo Sphere has very equal size in its triangle dimensions, and i think in many situations is better in low-poly modeling. But there are times that texturing the simple Sphere is easier.

I have the same nasty problem,
but those models of Alternativa don't seem to have such a problem!

Look, there are always developers here to skim through others codes to learn things out of them by either solving a problem or learning how to use new APIs.
So if you feel like wanting a better FPS, you could always send both your code and 3D models here for both you and others to enjoy!
