				<title>AIR3 with Stage3D = Performance Issues</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hail Community...<br /> <br /> I was playing around with Stage3D in Flash Player RC1 these days and everything is ok.<br /> Today I tried AIR3, using the same swf sample I was using with FP11.<br /> <br /> In the browser (Firefox 6/7) performance was great!<br /> 60FPS in my Radeon HD 6630M. The browser was maximized (1366x768).<br /> <br /> When I ran in the AIR Debug Player RC I knew that performance shouldn't be so good (it's a debug player, after all).<br /> The window have only 800x600, but the FPS is between 20 and 30 when I move the camera.<br /> Then I tried in AIR3 RC, but the result was the same, 30 FPS.<br /> <br /> I thought that running under AIR was faster than run under FP...<br /> Is there anybody else having trouble with performance too?<br /> ]]></description>

				<title>Clicking through transparent parts of a bitmap</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hello,<br /> <br /> I've been working on a project (close to the deadline, meh) that has a 3D view of bitmaps all placed at a random x and z position in space.<br /> These bitmaps are images of people, all .PNG and projected on flat planes facing the camera. The view is interactive, so when the user clicks on a person, the camera zooms in at that particular object. <br /> My problem is that when I click on a transparent part of a bitmap, I can't select underlaying objects. Like clicking next to the head, through legs etc. all 'open' areas.<br /> I tried all well known Flash 3D engines, but without any luck. Is there a way I can simply achieve this with Alternativa?<br /> I guess it has something to do with [i]getObjectsUnderPoint()[/i], pixel comparison, but I don't know how to implement this properly. I already found a similar post here, but that was about Faces, not Sprites. <br /> <br /> Any help or example code is much appreciated!]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Which is faster? <br /> <br /> The idea of returning this, instead of void, is so that one can chain function operations in one line such as:<br /> <br /> var angBetween2Normals:Number= new Vec3(d.x, d.y, dz).normalize().angBetween( new Vec3(a.x, a.y, a.z).normalize() );<br /> <br /> Rather than writing out variables in several lines because normalize() returns void. Or subtract, scale, etc. can simply return "this" rather than "void", so you can chain more operations in one line that defines the initial setup of the given variable.<br /> <br /> For Haxe:<br /> However, if such functions are inlined in Haxe, the generated code output actually generates an extra variable if you choose to "return this" in normalize(). So, it's better to return void for inline methods in Haxe to prevent unnecessary variable creation, and let the inline method be simply an inline operation (ie. saving out the necessary variables without actually calling the function). <br /> <br /> For Flash:<br /> For Flash however, does returning a value in a method still causes Flash player to create a temporary variable in memory, and thus, it's better to NOT return values but simply call return void methods on manually declared variables? The thing is, with optional parameters included in, does that mean additional variable creation so it's still better to simply apply the properties from outside?<br /> <br /> However, such inline would usually bloat your code (imagine having to duplicate 8 more lines in the main function loop for simply assigning variables), so i'd rather avoid it. In fact, any form of inlining can bloat code. However, simple operations like scaling, dot/cross products, square lengths, distance, etc. are worth inlining I feel. What do you think?<br /> <br /> Personally, I feel a function that sets something or runs an operation (aka. setter)  shouldn't return "this". It blurs the difference between getters and setters, and confuses the API since you can't organise your code into 2 distinct sets of setter vs getter.]]></description>

Я ни как не могу понять как правильно добавлять новый мувик на сцену в adobe flash cs5? я скачал с интернета игрушку хочу ее не много переделать и  кое что дописать. <br /> Есть fla-файл ну и as-файлы в которых размещены классы описывающие действия в игре. Я у же на готовую сцену добавляю мовик. Беру и перетаскиваю его прямо из library  на сцену.<br /> После чего компилирую программу. и в output-e выводит:<br /> Я пытаюсь модернизировать игру псевдо pinpong3d.<br /> Я хочу добавить менюшку. есть готовый fla.файл и скрипты все. К уже существующей сцене добавить новый мовиклип(меню для игры)?<br /> Я делаю следующее: Создаю новый мовиклип и перетаскиваю его на общую сцену. 				<description><![CDATA[ I'm willing to pay for referential help (ie answering questions when stuck) as I build a highly scalable flash 3D virtual office application/site. <br /> <br /> <br /> I have some code background in HTML/ColdFusion/MySQL and I plan ideally to host on Google App Engine using their datastore as the backend and the OpenBlueDragon port of Coldfusion for GAE as the middle tier.<br /> <br /> <br /> However I am struggling with flash and/or flex.  Specifically while I've learned a great deal of AS3 concepts and FB component coding, all the 3D engine tutorials seem to be Flash based rather than FlashBuilder thus I set out to learn Flash this past weekend.<br /> <br /> <br /> Moreover, I'm presently working through the Flash and PHP Bible (though trying to adapt the PHP to CF code) and can't find any resources describing how to connect Flash CS5 to Coldfusion (they all focus on FB4 and usually a wizard therein).<br /> <br /> <br /> And finally given the scope of the intended project I recognize I will need a framework of some sort but transparently lack the expertise as yet to pick/implement one.<br /> <br /> <br /> Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.<br /> ]]></description>

				<title>Having trouble importing scale data correctly from 3ds file.</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hey all,<br /> <br /> I'm currently importing a 3ds file into my flash application. The file imports without issue, and looks as expected. Within the model there are various points defined by planes that I would like to display sprites.<br /> <br /> Currently, I iterate through all the Object3D's in the 3ds file. When I find the specific plane I wish to replace with a Sprite, I generate a new Sprite3D object and place it at the same x,y,z coordinates as the plane. I then do [b]not[/b] weldTheVerticiesAndFaces of the plane. <br /> <br /> This is where I start to run into problems. If I then set the Sprite3D to be the same scale as the plane I'm replacing, the Sprite3D is HUGE. I have to manually define its proportions. In addition, although the x and y coordinates seem fairly accurate, the z positioning seem's slightly out. However this is possibly due to the reference point of the Sprite3D.<br /> <br /> The scale is so dramatically out of proportion that I am almost certain I am going the wrong way about achieving what I want. <br /> <br /> In short, what I wish to do is thus:<br /> To iterate through a 3ds file and replace certain Object3D objects. Then use the coordinates and scale values of the Object3D to position and scale a dynamically generated Sprite3D object.]]></description>

				<title>Cubehead, a cyberpunkish Flash 10 3D Rubik's Cube game</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Hello everyone. Before anything I want to clarify that I didn't use Alternativa or any 3rd party engine for this game. It's entirely made from scratch. That's the reason why I'm posting on this section.<br /> <br /> I just made a Rubik's Cube game in Flash 10. I have further details on Newgrounds, but suffice it to say it has a Kociemba Solver, a reason for which you need to wait a while before the algorithm initializes. It also has three buttons, Scramble, Partial Solve and Full Solve. 				<title>beginning flash, tutorial advice</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ So I have been playing with alternative for some time now.  I've been having all kinds of fun creating models, and importing them into alternativa, creating walk through with the 3ds import script.  But I have an itch to dive more into alternativa.  I'm very familiar with max and creating beautiful models/scenes and importing them specifically for the purpose of alternativa, but all I have is the 3ds import script.  I want to create animations, interactions, custom camera controls.  I looked at the tutorials that Mattew Casperson posted however I couldn't make much sense out of it.  I don't know anything about flash coding and I have to start from the beginning.  If anyone can point me in the right direction to begin the trials of learning flash specifically for the intent of alternativa, I would appreciate it. 				<title>Determining mouse position in space.</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I'm working on a demo for my project, attempting to step through the various phases of a battletech game and am trying to figure out how to determine the position of the mouse cursor relative to the objects present in the scene.  Using the screenshot below as an example, I need to be able to click on one of the hexes that make up the battlefield and be able to draw another hex over it that sort of outlines the selected position.
